Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. Everson is excited to join Dr. Wade and Interior Alaska Orthopedic and Sports Medicine in providing a superior level of orthopedic care to the residents of interior Alaska. He has a special interest in sports medicine, including ACL reconstruction, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, anterior hip total joint surgery and MRI and CT-guided knee and shoulder replacements. Additional interests include minimally invasive surgical techniques, cartilage restoration, and platelet and stem cell injections for various injuries and ailments. He performs total joint replacements, surgery for orthopedic trauma, hand surgery and arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, hip and knee.
He enjoys treating patients of all ages and seeing patients heal with and without surgery. He firmly believes that surgery should be reserved for those that fail non-operative care. Dr. Everson performs surgery at The Surgery Center of Fairbanks and Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Everson attended medical school at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, Washington. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at McLaren Macomb Hospital in northeast Detroit, part of the Michigan State University statewide campus. During that time, Dr. Everson also studied pediatric surgery and orthopedic trauma at the Detroit Medical Center.
After residency, Dr. Everson was selected for a prestigious fellowship in Sports Medicine at San Diego Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy. During the fellowship, he worked in San Diego County at Scripps La Jolla Hospital, the 11th-ranked orthopedic hospital in the country per US News and World Report. While there, Dr. Everson worked with various sports teams and the former team physicians of the San Diego Chargers and Padres. He was a team physician at San Diego State University and with the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League, in addition to a range of community colleges and high schools in San Diego County.
Dr. Everson and his wife are proud parents of five children and enjoys the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, snowboarding, basketball, scouting, church activities in addition to the many talents of his children. He and his wife are originally from the Fairbanks area and was later stationed at Fort Wainwright during his military service. He is excited to once again call Fairbanks home.
